“Show Your Work!”
Do you remember these words scribbled on your math and/or physics exams? Probably not, because you are all brilliant students attending Cal Berkeley. But unlike all of you friends, I was not the sharpest knife in the drawer so to speak. In high school, my dull brain would rather find ways to cut corners than actually put in the effort to know the material. In other words, I operated purely on memorization instead of application. Even though my answers were correct, without the formula, the proofs, or the logic I was not given full credit. You see, knowing the answer does not necessarily mean you understand the answer.
How often do we do this in our Christian Life? We may know the Christian answer to life’s difficult questions, “Jesus!” (90% of Sunday School Questions. The other 9% ‘I don’t know.’) but do we really understand how this answer applies? I hope you recognize that this question “Who is this King of Glory?” is the biggest exam question you will have to answer in this life.
Are you able to “show your work?” Biblically? Logically? Rationally? Intellectually?
Come to this Friday’s Large Group (On Time @ 7:30pm) – We’re going to revisit the answer we’re so familiar with “Jesus Christ” and see how it applies specifically to our College Issues (i.e. drinking, partying, studying, dating, etc.). FiCB, just because you may know the answer, my prayer for you is to articulate, understand and apply it properly.
So, invite your friends, encourage your roommates, housemates, classmates, first-mates and come right over to the 4th instillation of our series.
Blessings – P.In
